tt

I'm working on an timetracker utility designed with speed and convenience in mind. tt is meant to make time tracking fast and powerfull, in the sense that the UNIX shell makes managing files fast and powerfull. Most of the timetracking utilities I've used take effort, for instance web-based stuff that you have to log into or GUI apps that you have to run and navigate through menus to use. tt on the other hand is for people who are much too lazy to fill out forms.

Features

• Written in Python, with hooks available to easilly change behaviors with custom code.
• Short commands: ts, ta, tm, and tp to start, pause, resume and stop time tracking.
• Put time logs are sorted by project, and tagged by one or more tasks.
• GNU readline-style support, so hitting tab does something smart.
• Works well with distributed environments. Timestamps are stored as files, that can easilly be merged together if you work on multiple computers.
• Data stored as XML, for some reason...
• Debian package support.

Status

tt is self hosting and includes a copy of all the timelogs related to it's development. Still this is very much a case of release early, release often... I'm already using tt extensively for my own projects, tightly coupled with my use of monotone. Future development of tt will be able to read data created with old versions, I've already got too much logging data to not make things migratable. Current version is 0.0, 0.1 will be released when tt report, has a way to tag timespans as already reported on for billing.
